Quadstone Paramics announced integrated support for Google SketchUp.

Quadstone Paramics now provides integrated support for Google’s popular 3D modelling tool, SketchUp, bridging the gap between transport engineer and 3D modeller. Google’s 3D Warehouse contains thousands of both in house and third party developed SketchUp models which transport engineers can now utilise to create detailed visualisations of a given road network.

Calling all future-forward architects, urban designers, renegade planners and imaginative engineers:
Show us how you would re-invent the suburbs! What would a McMansion become if it weren’t a single-family dwelling? How could a vacant big box store be retrofitted for agriculture? What sort of design solutions can you come up with to facilitate car-free mobility, ‘burb-grown food, and local, renewable energy generation? We want to see how you’d design future-proof spaces and systems using the suburban structures of the present, from small-scale retrofits to large-scale restoration—the wilder the better!

SketchUp Exporter for MachStudio Released

An exporter for models from SketchUp Pro has been one of the most frequently requested tools for MachStudio Pro. The free exporter is now avaialble making it easy to export 3D assets from SketchUp Pro 7 into MachStudio native GXB formats. These models can then be imported into MachStudio Pro where an artist can create and manipulate lights, materials, and HDR cameras in a real-time, non-linear workflow environment to achieve film quality results.

I signed up for a twitter.com account recently to see what it was all about. I'm not quite sure I totally "get" it, but I have a couple ideas for its use.
