Update Protrude Plugin (now works on Mac)

My brother kindly gave me not one, but a pair of Mac G4 Cubes. They are a little aged, but work just fine and can run SketchUp 7, so are perfect for what I need them for - testing plug-ins. Thanks bro!

This update is re-written to work on both Windows and Mac operating systems, although nothing has changed for Windows users of the plugin so there's no need to re-install if you are using SketchUp on Windows.

I have tested this on 10.4, which I hope is "close enough" to the latest version.

See the protrude post for the download and information.

This plugin requires offset and progressbar from smuatard.com (both are free.)

Updated "Protrude" Plugin

Changes include:
  • Compatible with SU6 and SU7.
  • Takes advantage of performance enhancements in SU7.
  • Fixed bug for handling of comma as decimal point on German systems. (Thanks Stefan!)
  • Removed dubugging output in the Ruby Console.
  •  Uses current model's Units settings, including Precision setting.
  • Fixed bug where inputs could be selected but not edited. Yikes.
  • Can set "Reasonable" Offset and Height independently by clicking the labels "Offset" and "Height".
  • Added tooltip to "Offset" and "Height" labels.
To install, download the .zip file from the page below, and move the files into your plugins folder - over-writing the protrude.rb file and protrude folder (if it already exists.)

See the Protrude page for download.

Plugin: Protrude

This is the first step in a greeble plugin. And by first step I mean there are possible bugs.

Protrude performs 4 basic operations: dividing, offsetting, protruding, and tapering.
  1. Select the face(s) you would like to protrude.
  2. Divide them, if applicable. Only rectangles are able to be divided. Division occurs parallel to short side.
  3. Use the Set reasonable values to set the offset, protrude and taper values to something reasonable.
  4. Press Protrude to see the reults.
  5. Edit values, and hit Do Over to re-do the most recent operations.
  6. If the right-side input columns are used, a random number is generated for the operation. This number is in the range of left-column to right-column. Leave them blank if you don't want a range. (Sorry, it's the law. Just kidding, just a bug future enhancement opportunity.)

You should completely delete both the protrude folder and protrude.rb file from your Plugins folder before installing this version.
