  1. This is an extremely helpful library FloMoCo put together for anyone designing with 80/20 materials and SketchUp! It's simplified so it draws and renders quick, dimentions are accurate, and it uses the correct 80/20 catalog numbers. 80/20 Inc. has been saying they plan to release a SketchUp library but they've been saying that for well over a year now and shown nothing - it's frustrating for users who want it! 80/20 Inc. trys to point users instead to 3D Content Central, but I've found many common parts to be inconsistently drawn and too many of questionable accuracy such that I can't trust it. The only problem with the FloMoCo library is that it hasn't been updated since 2008 and so it's missing some useful new parts. Understandably, FloMoCo doesn't want to invest in updating the library if 80/20 Inc. is rumoring that they will provide a library. Honestly, I don't know what 80/20 Inc's problem is; in the big picture, it wouldn't require a lot of resources to build up a library and it could really expand their customer base. I suspect the owner is just stuck in the old-school AutoCAD world and doesn't understand the benefits SketchUp and its integrated social media connections can provide to his industry which AutoCAD and Solidworks never will... *sigh*

  2. 80/20 may provide SketchUp files, but who wants to register in order to download the files to find out?

There may be some good models at the 3D Warehouse.

  3. So, 80/20 has been telling me they are just about to release new library stuff taht will apply to SketchUp... yesterday (2013-01-12) 80/20 announced their release of PartSource CAD file library... Nope, no native SketchUp support, and further, the dumb interface still requires you to select and download part files one at a time. I just don't understand how the 80/20 president can claim the company is all about constant innovation yet they can't grasp that there is a tremendous market beyond the traditional CAD market and that SketchUp serves a _huge_ and growing userbase of people, most of whom will never become traditional CAD package users. Further, they don't even seem to realize that many users would want to simply get the whole library in a particular file format rather than manually selecting and downloading each one; classic example of developers not actually having to use their own product. ...at least these are all supposed to be consistent and approved parts, which is one-up over 3D Content Central...
