SU Animate 3.0 for Google SketchUp released fom Cadalog, Inc.

Dave of Cadalog, Inc, wanted to get the word out about the latest update to SU Animate:
Cadalog, Inc. has released SU Animate 3.0 for Google SketchUp 6 and 7. This is a Ruby based plug-in that automatically creates SketchUp scenes from camera and object paths. SU Animate simplifies the process of creating SketchUp animations.

New to SU Animate 3.0 is a polyline edit tool which allows the user to create animation paths using a unique polyline tool instead of joining several lines and arcs together. 3.0 also allows the user to preview an animation before committing to scene creation. In version 3.0, the UI has been updated allowing the user to apply any number of frames to a path, uniformly.

Upgrade to SU Animate 3.0 for existing SU Animate customers is free. SU Animate works in Google SketchUp, Free or Pro, Windows or Mac. Cost is $79.00 (USD). For more detailed information including download of a free evaluation version, please go to http://www.ohyeahcad.com/suanimate/

Quadstone Paramics announced integrated support for Google SketchUp.

Quadstone Paramics now provides integrated support for Google’s popular 3D modelling tool, SketchUp, bridging the gap between transport engineer and 3D modeller. ReBurbia Design Competition

I like to post competitions.

Calling all future-forward architects, urban designers, renegade planners and imaginative engineers:
Show us how you would re-invent the suburbs! What would a McMansion become if it weren’t a single-family dwelling? How could a vacant big box store be retrofitted for agriculture? What sort of design solutions can you come up with to facilitate car-free mobility, ‘burb-grown food, and local, renewable energy generation? We want to see how you’d design future-proof spaces and systems using the suburban structures of the present, from small-scale retrofits to large-scale restoration—the wilder the better!

Official Rules (entries due by July 31!)

SketchUp Exporter for MachStudio Released

via sketchucation forums.

An exporter for models from SketchUp Pro has been one of the most frequently requested tools for MachStudio Pro. The free exporter is now avaialble making it easy to export 3D assets from SketchUp Pro 7 into MachStudio native GXB formats. These models can then be imported into MachStudio Pro where an artist can create and manipulate lights, materials, and HDR cameras in a real-time, non-linear workflow environment to achieve film quality results.

twitter

I signed up for a twitter.com account recently to see what it was all about. I'm not quite sure I totally "get" it, but I have a couple ideas for its use.

First, I will be trying out twitter for smaller posts that may not justify a full blog post. Second, it could be useful for support - so if you have any SketchUp or plugin related questions or comments, send a reply to @pluginsblog.

2009 Kids’ Digital Design Contest | Architect Mason Kirby Inc.

The First Annual Kids’ Digital Design Contest is a digital design competition for ages 0-15. With the help of parents, our goal is to provide a venue for kids to demonstrate, develop and reveal their capacity for creative three dimensional thinking using the digital modeling tool SketchUp (free to download, simple to learn, and amazingly difficult to put down). Our inaugural theme is: “under/over/within” and features an intertidal aquatic site. Age based judging ensures fair competition and lots of cool prizes.

The UnicodeEx project

Thomas Thomassen has started a new project to assist in handling problems in UTF-8 strings in SketchUp.

I have started the UnicodeEx project as an effort to assist in the dealings of UTF-8 string, on obth platforms, and File methods on the Windows platform.

It's still early on - many thing can and will change. So please do not rely on this 100% yet. I make it available now in the hope that more people can assist to this project that's quickly growing in scope.
